Pfeiffer's Corner School House
Project Description
Complete interior and exterior restoration of the one-room schoolhouse, circa 1883. It was used as a schoolhouse until the 1930's when it was sold and used as a private residence. 26 seventh-graders saved this schoolhouse from demolition in 1989 after raising $16,500 to have it moved to a clearing in the Middle Patuxent Environmental area.
Before renovations were to be completed, we relocated the deteriorated building approximately four miles to its permanent location of Rockburn Park in Howard County, MD just after midnight on May 5, 2003.
Renovation included a new roof, restoration of salvagable wood siding and replacement in kind to match existing siding and new ADA accessibilty including ramp and bathroom.
