TESTIMONIAL

Galesville Community Center

Project Description

Complete interior and exterior restoration of the original elementary school built in 1929 for African-American children. Originally a two room schoolhouse, it was closed in 1956 during the integration of the public school system and deeded to the community. It was used for community functions until the late 1990's until the condition of the building deteriorated.

Comprehensive renovations were done to both the interior and exterior of the 1,500 square foot building. Modifications were made to the handicap accessibility of the center, lead based paint was removed, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems were all upgraded and other miscellaneous site work was done including installation of walks, landscaping, storm water management and curb and paving repairs.

"During the renovation project at Galesville Community Center (Rosenwald School) it was obvious that Albrecht Construction's  management was extremely conscientious regarding the quality of workmanship, safety of their employees and the sub-contractors and adherence to the construction schedule. They also worked closely with us to minimize change orders and cost overruns. We are very proud of our historic renovated building and the quality of the building makes a lasting first impression to all.... The Galesville Community Center Organization, Inc. would highly recommend this construction company to others and gladly work with them again in the future. Albrecht Construction has a wealth of experience working on historic buildings."
